One of my close friends at work, who is a soon-to-be-dad, planned a baby shower for his wife. Since my friends and I love crafts and planning events, we volunteered to help with his preps. I got more excited when I learned that he is having a Dr. Seuss theme for the baby shower. Yui loves her Dr. Seuss books so I know the characters but although my friend is not familiar with Dr. Seuss, it didn’t stop her creative juices at all.
We had so much fun planning for the decorations which were assigned to us. We searched the net for ideas for the table centerpieces, banners and other decors. Since we only have about 2 weeks to prepare and had to squeeze the planning and execution in between work, we opted for easy to make but fun, cute and functional decorations. I even get to share our collection of Dr. Seuss books to display at the event.

Dr. Seuss-inspired decors
We created a simple welcome standee made from printed fun terms on red and blue board papers, a printed “Welcome” sign and some pompoms all placed in a small bucket (which is the flower girls’ bucket from my wedding 5 years ago :))

For our table centerpieces, we made a one-layered diaper cake, tied it with red and white ribbons with Dr. Seuss characters stickers on it (which we also just printed on sticker paper), placed red or blue japanese paper and for the finishing touches, a Dr. Seuss character as a topper. It was so much fun to make!

We also hanged red, blue and white pom poms from the ceiling to add some character vertically. We just searched the internet for instructions on how to make the pom poms and we think it turned out pretty good. 🙂

My friend made an “It’s a boy!” bunting which we are so proud of since she just made all background designs using MS Paint! Gudjab Rog! 🙂

One of our main efforts is the Sweets buffet which we filled with cupcakes and other candies and sweets that are Dr. Seuss-inspired.

The main attraction is the “Zac’s Corner”, where we’ve set up a message corner where guests can write their notes for little Zac on cute Dr. Seuss cards then they can post it in the message board. There were also cute diaper cakes and a diaper bear motorcycle which were prepared by the couple’s friend.

On the day of the baby shower, it was so great to learn that the guests all loved our decorations and the how the whole thing was set up. Even the parents-to-be were very happy with how it all came out. 🙂
