Travel theme: Couples

Leave a comment Standard

With the shutting down of the multiply social network feature in December, I’ve been spending more time in my old site, reminiscing the photos that I’ve posted several years back. With this week’s travel theme – couples, I discovered a lot of material that  I can get from my multiply site. It also gave me an opportunity to look back at the happy moments and travels that we did. Here are the shortlisted photos from our previous travels 🙂

Dusk in Boracay, one of the Philippines’ best beaches, is a great time to lounge around the shore and spend some quality time with your special someone.

In The Park at Real, Quezon, Philippines, the Pacific Ocean meets Tignoan River forming an estuary. The end point of the Pacific Ocean is a nice spot for some romantic walk or a quiet time sitting beside your loved one.

Still at The Park, but on the river side, we saw these two kids handling a small boat that ferry guests from the camp to the other side of the river.

My friend and I got these BFF bunny rings in Chicago during an easter event that we attended.

And the ultimate pair I got to taste in Batangas, Philippines: Kapeng Barako and Pandesal. Yummy!

Words cannot express how much I appreciate having you in my life. A loving hubby and caring daddy, you are one of a kind. I was about to list down top 31 reasons why we love you but words escape me. And then I thought, “why not put it in pictures?”

So, here goes my top 31 most memorable photos (since digicam became the trend). Happy Birthday Daddy Bunny! We  LOVE you! 🙂

Homework: Personalized Nursery Rhyme

Comment 1 Standard

Last week, Home Room started giving the playgroup kids homework for the weekend. They brought home the task on Wednesday which was due Monday. Their teacher encourages the parents to include the child in the home work and not just do it for them. As parents, we also believe that this will help shape their working habits in the future. So I read the assignment.

Pets are their topic for this month. So the requirement for their assignment is to pick a nursery rhyme and replace the lyrics with your own focusing on pets or animals as the main topic.  Ha, I was excited to start this since we’ve been observing how Yui puts her day to day routine and even mundane tasks into a song. She even composed a playgroup song that I thought was a real one (taught by her teachers) when I first heard it.

I brainstormed with Yui and first asked her what nursery rhyme she wants to sing.

Mommy: “What’s your favorite nursery rhyme? Old Macdonald?”

Yui: “No.”

Mommy: “ABC? Twinkle Twinkle?”

Yui: “No. No.”

Yui: “Ah, I want Baa Baa Black Sheep!”

Mommy: “Okay, Baa Baa Black Sheep it is. What pet do you want to sing about? Hamster (this is their pet topic at the Home Room)”

Yui: “No.”

Mommy: “Dog? Cat?”

Yui: “No. No. I want rabbit!”

So, rabbit it is. We then proceeded with creating our masterpiece. Yui dictated the words and will sing it to the tune of Baa Baa Black Sheep. I would then add in some words if the lyrics do not fit into the melody. After about 15 minutes, our very own composition is done. With some freebie bears on the side and Yui’s own title to boot.

Things That Make Me Smile: UAAP

Even though the UST Tigers lost to Ateneo in game 2 of the UAAP season 75 basketball finals, the live game experience is still one of a kind. I have a lot of reasons to smile despite another heartbreaking loss.

Sea of Yellow

Hearing the Go USTE cheer live is really an experience. There is something momentous in cheering for your alma mater with all your heart. Truly, college basketball is one of the best.

The players

Both Ateneo and UST gave their best in this game. It was so close that the game can go either way. In the end, I would say that Ateneo’s experience and UST’s free throws cost us the game. Hats off to both teams – including a more subdued Coach Pido 🙂

Ateneo vs UST: game 2 of UAAP 75 finals

Hail, Ateneo, Hail!

I commend the UST crowd for giving a standing ovation and clapping wholeheartedly right after the game, after Ateneo sang their hymn and when the team was awarded the Championship trophy. That is good sportsmanship.

One Big Fight!

One Big Fight!

Go USTe!

I got teary eyed and goose bumps when we sang the UST Hymn and again felt proud when the crowd kept cheering GO USTE even after the game. Even after the loss. School pride makes me smile. 🙂

Go USTe!

Go USTe!

So despite the loss, the experience was all worthwhile. Coz at the end of the day, Ang tomasino May Puso, Pride at Palaban. Bawi na lang next year 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Big

Comments 12 Standard

This week’s photo challenge is BIG. A few years back I didn’t think that I would someday consider myself big. Pre-pregnancy I was only at 96 lbs then grew to as much as 130 lbs towards the end of the pregnancy. Getting pregnant is one of the greatest things that happened to me and although Yui is now an active and beautiful 3 year old, I still get awed at how big I was when I was carrying her. Seeing this little girl now and remembering her inside my womb is really a miracle.

Here I am, more than 3 years ago, in all my big belly glory 🙂

An Intimate Hideaway: Costa De Leticia Resort

Comment 1 Standard

Our recent team outing brought us to the Southern part of Cebu. After a three-hour drive from the city, we arrived at Costa De Leticia Resort in Alegria, Cebu and discovered that we had the entire place to ourselves. It was paradise!

Little Paradise

The resort actually has a small land area but they were able to maximize the space. Their facilities include a common room that has 2 sets of couch where you can just relax and read a book (if you just want to stay indoors); an outdoor dining area; a function room at the basement; garden and swimming pool. Their garden has an ample space for lounging around and even some drinking session under the moon and stars. The main house is really like a rest house so you will feel very at home with the place. There were different types of rooms that can accommodate honeymooners, families or the entire barkada.

The House

The House

There are several things that I really liked about the place.

1. The entire place is clean. Their bed rooms and even the rest rooms are well kept. Even their pool has clear waters and you will really enjoy swimming.

2. I love the little details and decors that you can see everywhere. You will see that the owners put effort in making their place appealing to the guests. They have a piano in the main living area that anyone can play. Little trinkets and figurines are all over the house and even in the garden. It just exudes a very homey vibe that will make you more relaxed and at peace.

3. Our room was fit for a princess! Purple satin sheets, big beds, fluffy pillows. Kulang na lang four-poster bed. 🙂

Our Room

4. For such a small place, there are a lot of service crew. So someone is handy whenever we need anything. Talk about great service.

5. We never had issues with communications during the reservation process and even in payments. They even accept credit card payment so this helped us a lot as well.

6. Oh, and they have free wi-fi. Score! 🙂

I don’t have any negative experience with the place and I only have 3 minor areas of improvement:

1. Their function room is located at the basement. And there is very little to no mobile network signal at all. Imagine if you are in a conference or retreat and you will get to spend the whole day in the function room. You cannot be reached in case there’s an emergency.

2. Their food is okay but not really great. Well, we still get full so that’s still fine.

3. Their karaoke system is set up in the function room. The function room closes at 10pm. So karaoke happiness was cut short. ’nuff said.

All in all, I had a really great time spending the weekend with my team in this little paradise. It is a good place to chill with your barkada or just for some quality time with your special someone. The place is a perfect hideaway. If I’ll have a chance, I would definitely go back to Costa De Leticia. 🙂

Of Bedtime Stories and Imagination

Leave a comment Standard

Since last year, Yui developed a fascination on princesses. On their career day last year when asked what she wants to be when she grows up, she adamantly blurted out “I want to be a princess!” Good thing she changed her mind the last minute (and became a doctor for the program), but the magic of princesses lived on.

As her vocabulary and imagination grows, our daily routines also get more exciting. Recently, we started making up our own bedtime stories and before I forget I’ll chronicle our latest story. Here goes…

The Princess in the Golden Castle

by: mommy bunny and Yui

Disney princess

Once upon a time, in a far far away place

There lived a princess named Princess Yui.

She lived in a golden castle (Yui insisted it to be a golden castle)

One day as she was playing outside the golden castle grounds,

She got lost in the woods, as there are a lot of trees around her.

She shouted “Help! Help! Somebody help me!”

But no one can hear her.

So she started to cry. And cry. And cry.

As her tears touched the ground, a fairy appeared.

The fairy asked her “Why are you crying Princess Yui?”

“Because I’m lost in this forest and I can’t go back to my golden castle” said Princess Yui.

The fairy smiled and said, “Don’t cry Princess Yui. I will help you”

And so the fairy led the way around the large trees

There were pixie dust trailing behind her as Princess Yui followed.

Soon they can see the golden castle ahead.

Princess Yui was so happy to see her golden castle.

She thanked the good fairy and went inside.

The End. 🙂

Travel Theme: Foliage

Comments 2 Standard

I received an invite from Ailsa for a travel theme on Foliage and decided to join in the fun. There’s nothing refreshing than seeing nature around us. Beautiful trees and flowers are rare in this city where I live so it’s always nice to see a different scenery.

When Daddy Bunny went on his trips, he got several shots of nature. Here are some of my favorite shots from his most recent trips.

Seeing this picture of the Meiji Shrine reminded me of the Japanese doramas I’ve watched and I can almost smell the fresh scent of the leaves all around.

Daddy bunny was in California just in time to see some great blooms. Out of all his shots, this is my favorite. The simple leaf with a heart shape brings some peace whenever I look at it. And also, you wouldn’t expect a simple plant box in the middle of the park to have this amazing “love plant”.

Of course, nothing beats some local scenery. On our trip up north to Pangasinan, we passed by SCTEX and can’t help but basked in the beautiful landscape on both sides of the expressway. Sunset + rice fields = perfect moment 🙂

Truly, images of nature at its finest will always make anyone feel good anytime of the day. 🙂

Wake Me Up When September Ends

Leave a comment Standard

That Green Day song has been playing over and over in my head the past month. If I could just curl up in my bed and let the days pass, I would have done that. But no, we must face life’s challenges and work’s stressful moments head on. One of the most visible impact of how busy I was at work last September was the lack of activity in this blog. A lot of things happened and despite the delay, I would still like to revisit how exciting and exhilarating September was for me.

Cebu

I’ve been to Cebu twice in one month. On the first week of September, I was there for a year end outing with the team and also to meet the new people that will be joining our team. The first visit was just plain fun. Now the second one, at the last week of September, was all work. I was leaving the office at 11 pm earliest and even had to work at the hotel until the wee hours of the morning. That’s how toxic it was.

But of course, I would still prefer to remember the happy moments despite how so long ago it seem to be.

The bunnies recently acquired something that will add to the bunnies’ collection. And Daddy Bunny is the happiest. Super duper advance Happy Birthday, daddy B! 🙂

Birthdays

We missed attending birthday parties and last September we experienced parties from both Jollibee and McDonald’s. The bunnies had a lot of fun on both parties and will reserve the verdict of which fast food chain throws the better party to ourselves 😉

One of the highlights of my lowly September is the UAAP! I still can’t believe that my Tigers will be at the 2012 UAAP Finals! Too much excitement! Too much exclamation points! I bet you can feel the excitement in the air 🙂

It’s gonna be Ateneo vs. UST in the finals, baybeh!

Well once I put things in perspective, September doesn’t seem so bad at all. Still, I’m just happy it’s over. Or, is it? 🙂
